Redditch Borough Council's Tree Team has informed residents near Barnwood Close and Rickyard Lane about planned vegetation management works starting this autumn.
The council will bring an overgrown planted barrier between the two roads back into a manageable condition. The work aims to make the area easier to maintain as a hedge while allowing established trees to thrive and receive better inspection and care.
What the work will involve
High-quality trees will be retained and protected. Shrubs, bushes, self-seeded growth, and poorer-quality trees will be reduced to around two metres in height. Some individual trees will be removed where necessary.
Why the council is doing this
Councillor Brandon Clayton, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Local Services, said the work is part of a proactive approach to managing planted barrier beds across the borough. "It will improve the long-term condition and manageability of the area while ensuring the best-quality trees are retained and given the space they need to thrive," he said.
The council acknowledges the changes may look significant immediately after completion, but the aim is to create healthier, more sustainable and easier-to-maintain features.
