Redditch Borough Council has agreed to award the honorary title of Freeman of the Borough to brothers Jordan and Cian Adams, known as the FTD Brothers, in recognition of their exceptional fundraising achievements and the pride they have brought to the town.
Councillors unanimously supported the motion at the Full Council Meeting on Monday, 29 June. The honour will be formally presented at a special council meeting in August 2026.
Who are the FTD Brothers?
Jordan and Cian Adams are both at risk of developing dementia in their 40s due to a genetic mutation. They completed the London Marathon before running marathons in all 32 counties on the island of Ireland over the following 32 days. Their efforts have raised millions for Alzheimer's and dementia charities. They were welcomed home by residents of Redditch with great pride.
What is Freedom of the Borough?
Freedom of the Borough is a historic honour dating back to medieval times. Historically, freemen were granted special rights including the ability to trade, own property and take part in local governance. Today, the title is purely ceremonial but remains the highest distinction a council can award, recognising individuals or organisations that have made exceptional contributions or brought great pride to the borough.
In Redditch Borough Council's lifetime, this honour has been bestowed only four times. Previous recipients are the 37th Signal Regiment (2014), the Mercian Regiment, and the late Walter Stranz.

Councillor Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, said: "I am delighted the motion received unanimous support from councillors across all political groups. Jordan and Cian have shown extraordinary courage, determination and selflessness, inspiring people across our borough and beyond while bringing immense pride to Redditch.
"This honour is the highest we can give as a Council and is entirely fitting in recognition of their outstanding contribution, not only through incredible fundraising but by giving hope to families affected by frontotemporal dementia and representing Redditch with humility and dignity."
What Happens Next
The special council meeting where the brothers will receive the honour is expected to take place at the Palace Theatre, Redditch in August 2026. The Council will now work through the formal process required to arrange the official presentation.
